Located at the site of PECO's Limerick Generating Station, the Energy Information Center offers exciting interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and other activities that illustrate the construction and operation of the Generating Station. The basics of nuclear energy itself can also be learned here.

Visitors may:

  • Operate the control rods of a simulated nuclear reactor

  • View a live display of environmental studies taking place

  • Ride a bicycle to generate electricity

  • Participate in open discussions on the pros and cons of various energy sources

  • See live Demonstrations of man-made lightening, generation of electricity, electrical safety and more

  • See a number of Audio/Visual Presentations on many aspects of energy and the construction of the Generating Station.

The tour is an educational experience for the entire family, and even for groups. Throughout the year Limerick hosts a variety of Special Events and Workshops with topics such as Bluebird Nesting Box Building, Fishing, Radon, and more. Call for a calendar.School and other Groups can participate in a number of environmental programs offered here. Programs features the Slide Presentation, "Wildlife of Limerick," live snakes and turtles, and the Brooke Evans Creek Nature Trail with more than 100 labeled trees and plants. Interested groups should call the Center to work out a program that will suit their needs.Programs for Teachers include Workshops on Understanding Radiation, Environmental Education, and a Radiation Equipment loan program.
