Ever wonder what happens on the other side of the tube?  Since 1933, NBC guides have been guiding visitors on a behind the scenes look at NBC's New York operations.   The hour-long tour takes in some of the world's most famous studios, including:

  • Studio 1A - home of the Today show
  • Studio 3A - home of the NBC Nightly News
  • Studio 3B - home of Dateline NBC
  • Studio 3K - home of NBC Sports
  • Studio 6A - home of Late Night with Conan O'Brien
  • Studio 8H - home of Saturday Night Live
Tracing radio and television back to 1933, the tour brings some of NBC's classic programs back to life -- programs that were created in the same studios that bring us today's entertainment.

Tours are conducted in a working facility, and visitors may catch a glimpse of a show in production or even run into a famous NBC personality.  Indeed, the tour guide might be a celebrity in the making.  Michael Eisner, Steve Allen, Kate Jackson, Regis Philbin, Ted Koppel, Marcy Carsey, Dave Garroway and Willard Scott all were NBC Pages in their early days.

Tours begin and end in the NBC Experience.

The NBC Experience is Rockefeller Plaza's latest must-see attraction, featuring high-tech interactive displays and a mind-blowing HDTV Theater.

Across the street from the Today show's "Window on the World studio, NBC Experience includes 2½ floors of exhibit and theater space.

The 40-seat HDTV Theater, last stop on the Studio Tour, features a 130º screen spanning two floors and three custom projectors showing a continuous presentation on NBC.

Interactive Features use blue-screen technology to allow visitors to join NBC personalities right on their sets:

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and You
A virtual interview with Jay

Conan O'Brien's Wild Desk Ride
Visitors replace Conan's sidekick Andy Richter on a wild ride through the streets of Manhattan

Al Roker's Weather Challenge
Be a meteorologist alongside the Today Show's weather man.

Bob Costas Sports Trivia
Test your sports knowledge against Bob.

Visitors can purchase souvenir photos and even videos (in most cases) of their adventures at these experiences, and kids can dance on oversized chimes that play NBC's signature theme.

Even NBC's Sweet Shop is an experience, with a three-dimensional map of the city laid out on the floor.   Walk past New York's most famous landmarks as you pick and choose from hundreds of colorful candies.  And for NBC Souvenirs, visitors can select from thousands of items, ranging from tee-shirts and mugs to high-end collectibles.

Finally, the NBC Museum showcases NBC's 75-year history with a great collection of memorabilia such as the first Howdy Doody Test Pattern, a microphone from the early days of radio, an original bottle from I Dream of Jeannie, and a large collection of photos.  Original print ands and promotional items from the 1930's, 40's and 50's relive the Golden Age of Radio and the transition to television.

If you're visiting Manhattan or live there, you'll want to take advantage of all that NBC has to offer.
