With a branch in Stamford, the Whitney Museum has joined forces with Champion International Corporation to make fine works of contemporary American art easily accessible to those coming from Connecticut or Westchester.

The Whitney Museum at Champion presents five exhibitions annually, including works from Whitney's permanent collection, as well as traveling exhibitions of American art.

The Museum also sponsors great family activities. Public Educational Programs include Docent-led Gallery Tours, Lectures by artists and historians, Film and Video Presentations, and Workshops based on exhibition themes. Call for a calendar.

For Schools, the Museum offers materials and slides for use in the classroom, age-specific Gallery Tours and Multi-Session Programs (created in cooperation with teachers) for School Groups (all grade levels), as well as annual Teacher Workshops.


Hours: Tuesday thru Saturday 11am - 5pm.
Group Tours at 10am - 12:30pm and 1:30 - 4pm Tuesday thru Saturday.
School Tours scheduled Tuesday thru Saturday 10am - 5pm.

Admission: FREE. Tours for School and Non-Profit Groups are FREE.
Small fee for other groups.

Reservations: At least 3 weeks in advance.

Lunch: Local restaurants.

Handicapped: Accessible. Call in advance for wheelchair, if needed.

Directions: I-87 north to I-287 east to I-95 north (New England Thruway), into Connecticut to exit 8. Take immediate left at end of ramp onto Atlantic St. Go under Thruway. Museum is one block on right.

Time: 45 to 60 minutes from the George Washington Bridge.
