Another of several great sites operated by Historic Hudson Valley, Van Cortlandt Manor is an 18th century brick manor house featuring a fine collection of Georgian and Federal period furnishings. An extraordinary kitchen on the ground floor includes the original hearth, Dutch oven, and an extensive collection of cooking equipment and utensils.

The site also includes an 18th century Tavern, with a collection of vernacular Hudson River Valley furnishings. Here visitors learn some of the fascinating history of travel and transport in the Colonial period.

Almost adjacent to the Tavern is an 18th century Tenant House in which visitors will enjoy frequent demonstrations of open hearth cooking and weaving and spinning. Outside, bricks are manufactured by hand in an 18th century brick kiln.

Throughout the year Families can enjoy many special events, including dinner cooked by an 18th century recipe over an open hearth (by reservation). Call for a calendar.
