Operated by the New Jersey Audubon Society, Lorrimer Sanctuary contains 14 wooded acres with winding Self-Guided trails throughout.

Formerly a private estate, the grounds feature a main house, parts of which date to the 1700's, that has a Visitors' Center with an exhibit and lecture room, winter bird feeding station, interpretive displays, hands-on exhibits and gift shop.

Lorrimer offers a variety of programs for Adults and Families, including Nature Study Workshops, Slide Presentations (for groups), Nature Weekends, and Bird Watching Field Trips.

School Programs include Keys to the Kingdom (pre-K): a sensory experience introducing kids to nature; Sun Chain Gang (grade 2): an exploration of plant and animal relationships to the sun; and Reading the Landscape (grade 5): a comparative study that teaches students to observe and interpret different habitats and evidence of human history. A number of other programs are available for other grade levels, including programs created in conjunction with teachers for grades 7 - 12.

Teacher Workshops and Outreach Programs are also offered, as are special programs for non-school Youth Groups, making Lorrimer a comprehensive educational resource.
